My Music Philosophy
Playing music should feel good. If it isn’t enjoyable, what's the point? The fastest way to real enjoyment is
connection. That is, hearing music clearly in your mind and translating that inner sound to your instrument. That’s why I take a
listening-first, ear-training, and improvisation-forward approach to learning and teaching.
I’ve developed a step-by-step system that takes you from absolute beginner to a musician who can learn any song by ear,
improvise effortlessly, and truly connect with the music. Along the way, you’ll build solid technique and the musical confidence to play for life.
What We’ll Focus On
- Learning songs you love!
- Songwriting and creative practice routines.
- Improvisation skills you can use from day one.
- Rhythm & groove: timing, feel.
- Ear training that unlocks melodies, chords, bass lines, and more.
- Applied music theory (that actually helps you play).
- Efficient technique, tone, and tasteful phrasing.
Styles I Love Teaching
- Folk & singer-songwriter
- Fingerstyle for self accompaniment
- Rock, indie, and alternative
- Blues
- Bossa Nova
- Improvisation across genres
